How To Spot A Fake Guru

The creator and influencer world is creating a big problem…

Everyone thinks they are the expert when they really haven’t earned it…

And so people watch these “gurus” who haven’t accomplished sh*t…

If you want to ACTUALLY become an industry leader in anything…you need to understand the difference between the two types of knowledge.

And the best way to understand this concept is a story Charlie Munger (Warren Buffett’s billionaire business partner) often tells.

It goes like this…

After Max Planck won the Nobel Prize, Max traveled around Germany to give a lecture on new quantum mechanics…

He had a chauffeur that would drive him from place to place to give this lecture and it got to the point where the chauffeur memorized the entire lecture.

And so one day the chauffeur asked Max “Would you mind, Professor Planck, because it’s so boring to stay in our routine. [Can] I give the lecture in Munich and you just sit in front wearing my chauffeur’s hat?”

Planck agreed to this and the chauffeur gave the entire lecture on quantum mechanics with ease…

When the chauffeur finished the lecture, a physics professor stood up and asked a question…

And the chauffeur replied “Well I’m surprised that in an advanced city like Munich I get such an elementary question. I’m going to ask my chauffeur to reply.”

Now that was a funny response from the chauffeur…but that’s not the point.

You see there are two types of knowledge…

Real and Copied…

Real knowledge comes from the people who DO the actual work. They put in the time and REALLY know what it takes to be an expert at their craft.

Copied knowledge comes from the people who DON’T do the actual work….they just pretend they do and lack understanding because their knowledge is purely from memorization.

And unfortunately I’m seeing more and more of copied knowledge in the world today…

So I want to show you a simple way to make sure you’re taking advice from people who ACTUALLY know what they’re doing…and not a fake guru.

If you implement this into your own life, you’ll…

  • Save a lot of time and money.
  • Know exactly who to listen to and who not to listen to.
  • Know how to separate yourself from the pack and stand out.

So anytime someone gives me advice on something… I always ask:

“Why?”

When you ask why…you’ll know right away if the person’s advice is real or copied knowledge.

If it’s real knowledge…they’ll be able to explain it to you in greater details with proof. They have put the work in, seen results, and have data to back it up because they’re in the trenches every day.

If it’s copied knowledge…they can’t answer without being vague or saying things that have nothing to do with the topic.

You see, there’s so much information out there on what to do…but I rarely see people explain the why behind the what.

If they can’t give you a why, you must aviod these types of people….and instead learn from the people who have an ACTUAL track record of creating the success you want to create for yourself.

So next time you’re given some advice from someone on how to do something…

Ask them why…

You’ll be able to distinguish the real from the fake.

That’s all for today.

So Long,
